Dragonriders and Pregnancy
At the request of one of our members we are addressing the issue of riders and pregnancy.
However, since we want to make this an option available to our members we are outlining some guidelines and expectations relating to riders being with child.
For the intents of our RP any female rider may choose to have her character become pregnant if it fits within the story. Because the population of the planet has been veritably decimated, any known pregnancy of rider or non-rider will be cherished as a sign of new life.
So You Want Your Rider to be Pregnant. What should you do?
First, we would ask you to contact the admin. We will not stop anyone from pursuing this track, however, we may have to ask you to wait depending on the storyline or if other riders are already pursuing this. We can’t have too many riders out of the main fighting wings due to pregnancy.
Make sure that this event fits as an in character event for the character. Also, both characters involved should be in agreement that a story of this nature is desired.
Make sure you read all the additional information relating to pregnancy and birth in Ferin before starting such a storyline.
[NO twins]
What happens to a pregnant rider?
[/li][li]The rider may fly with these wings, depending on her overall health for the early months of pregnancy, but during the later months, should avoid all flying on dragonback as the risk of fall is severe for both mother and unborn child.
[/li][li]The mother will remain relieved of flying for at least one month following birth, then the mother can resume duties as a dragonrider.
Length of Pregnancy
A true Pregnancy is 9 months. However, for the purposes of the RP, this event can be speeded up at a reasonable rate. Your character should be involved in the pregnancy storyline for at least 6 months of our RP time in order to seem realistic.
Risk of miscarriage is exceptionally high for the First Trimester and risk of injury from falling off a dragon is high during the Last Trimester due to the growing size of the mother.
No dragon will rise to mate when it senses its rider is nearing the end of pregnancy, especially female dragons of any color. The dragon senses the final months of pregnancy as a stress on the rider's body and will not rise so as not to harm its lifemate. This is the same as how a dragon would treat an injured rider.
